Dr. A. Russell Nelson Announces Candidacy for Teton County Coroner

Dr. A. Russell Nelson, a fifth-generation Teton County resident with deep roots in our community, today announced his candidacy for Teton County Coroner.

With more than a decade of hands-on experience serving in the Teton County Coroner’s Office — including roles as Deputy Coroner and Chief Deputy — Dr. Nelson is uniquely prepared to lead the office with professionalism, compassion, and integrity.

“The coroner’s role is about more than determining cause of death,” said Nelson. “It’s about walking alongside families during their most difficult moments with care, respect, and clear communication. It’s also about making sure our community is well-prepared for whatever may come.”

Dr. Nelson’s Priorities Include:

  • Conducting thorough, timely, and professional death investigations

  • Supporting grieving families with compassion and transparency

  • Strengthening collaboration with law enforcement, hospitals, and emergency services

  • Continuing important community efforts in suicide prevention and substance misuse reduction

  • Enhancing coordinated disaster and mass casualty response planning

A lifelong Teton County resident, Nelson is committed to serving our community with the dedication and care it deserves.

“I love this valley and the people who call it home,” Nelson said. “If elected, I will work every day to uphold the highest standards of service, integrity, and compassion for every family we serve.”

Dr. Albert Russell Nelson, PhD, will appear on the ballot in the Primary Election on August 18, 2026.
