Michelle Weber Named Chief of Police for the Town of Jackson

The Town of Jackson announces the appointment of Michelle Weber
as Chief of Police effective January 20, 2021. Chief Weber, a 16-year-
veteran of the Jackson Police Department, brings extensive law
enforcement and leadership experience to the role and will build on
the last six months leading the Department as Acting Chief of Police.

Weber is a graduate of the FBI’s National Academy, a professional
course developed to improve administration of justice in police
departments worldwide, a graduate of Leadership Jackson Hole and
holds a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and a Master’s in Leadership
and Management. Weber was hired by the Town of Jackson in 1998
and has served in law enforcement since 2004.

Town Manager Larry Pardee shared that, “Chief Weber has a proven
track record of commitment to community engagement and
personnel development as well as being an advocate for evaluating
departmental policies, procedures and operations. She is ideally
situated to lead our Police Department as we look for ways to
continue to improve and push our standards higher.”

In her career with the Jackson Police Department, Weber has
excelled on numerous special assignments including patrol
supervision, community relations, personnel training, and
departmental budgeting. Prior to stepping in as the Acting Chief of
Police, she was the department’s Support/Training Sergeant and
supervised the Community Service and Animal Shelter branches of
the organization. Since stepping in to lead the department, Chief
Weber has implemented several training programs for local law
enforcement including “Understanding Implicit Bias” “Crisis
Intervention Training,” and “Fundamentals of Diversity and
Inclusion.”

Jackson Mayor, Hailey Morton Levinson, called this an important time
for police and community relationships in Jackson and says Chief
Weber is the right person for the job. “It is a pivotal moment to be
swearing in a new police chief and I am confident that with her
proven leadership, Michelle is the ideal individual for the job,” said
Mayor Hailey Morton Levinson.

“Her commitment to protecting victims, promoting equality for all
and deploying intelligent, compassionate and empathetic police
officers will be important assets for our community as we move
forward.”

Chief Weber has a passion for community policing, transparency in
law enforcement, and the development of law enforcement leaders
through community engagement and interaction. “I am humbled and
honored to lead this incredible team of men and women in the
Jackson Police Department as their Chief,” said Weber. “It is my goal
to initiate a cultural shift within the Department to become even
more community orientated, impartial, effective, and transparent.”
Implementing new initiatives quickly, Weber has a Resolution for a
Sexual Assault Response Team scheduled for Town Council to
consider on February 1.
