Meet the Chairwoman: Mary Martin
Mary Martin arrived in Jackson in 1975 to work for the University of Wyoming Extension Service. She has worked for the University of Wyoming in several capacities through the years and currently serves as the UW Extension Community Development Educator for western Wyoming. As an area community development educator her work focus is on leadership; board governance; mediation; facilitation; and financial literacy. She also serves as the Director of the UW Center for Resolution in Jackson, which provides mediation training, free to low-cost mediation services to the circuit court and community. She coordinates Leadership Jackson Hole and Lincoln County Leadership Institute.
She currently serves on the State of Wyoming’s Department of Agriculture’s Agriculture and Natural Resources Mediation Board of Directors; she is President of the Jackson Council of Catholic Women and serves as a member of the Pioneer Homestead Board of Directors; Friends of Pioneer Homestead Board of Directors and The Wyoming Catholic Council of Women.
In addition to her B.S. Degree from the University of North Dakota she has a master’s degree in Education from the University of Wyoming.
Grant Larson appointed Mary to fill a precinct committee woman position in the 1980’s she served as precinct committee woman for approximately twenty years and returned to precinct work eight years ago. She ran for County Commissioner in 2018. In 2019, she was elected to the County’s GOP Central Committee and was elected to serve as Teton County’s State Committeewoman for the GOP.
Mary is a native of North Dakota. She considers herself a country girl whose greatest joys in life are her faith in God, the gift of her family and friends and the freedoms granted to “we the people” by our founding fathers. Mary’s work with civic and community leaders has developed in her an abiding love for Jackson Hole and our region.
Her goal as chairman of the Teton County GOP is to create a space large enough for, we the people, who choose to live “America First” and desire to “Save America” for our children, to gather and work together to ensure our Republican principles are articulated, understood, and embraced.
